I've been scratching my head about how to begin... I could say that I know how you feel after nine months of challenging, or unprecedented, or weird, or bewildering, or turbulent, or painful times. Two problems with this. I'm not sure I do know. And I am running out of adjectives to describe "this year". They all apply...
Some people have been able to enjoy the less frenetic pace of the times and the enforced "time out" that the past few months have brought. So perhaps you have adapted well to working from home, having more time on your hands than normal, or the alone time you never expected to find. Some, I know, have had to endure more loneliness or isolation, longing for touch and company, or the fallout from major challenges whether related to home schooling, the challenges of technology, health problems, money worries, or the increased stresses of a frontline job. Others have lived through terrible loss. And, while we are all in the same storm, we are not in the same boat, and I cannot pretend to know what the experience is like for you. What we all share is uncertainty, and, whatever your experience of the past nine months, my heart goes out to you.
I don't know how to describe 2020. We are in uncharted territory for sure. There are times when I just don't know how to make sense of it, let alone articulate any of this... it's maybe premature even to try.
Amid some of the loss and sadness I have felt, there have been blessings too. I discovered to my surprise that I quite enjoyed working remotely, and the fortnightly Online Reiki Circles have been one awesome community. Whilst I am looking forward to resuming some Reiki Circles in person, I will keep some online. It has been so much easier for some, being able to join in from the comfort of their homes with no drive afterwards.
I am enjoying teaching the Secrets of Spiritual Health and Happiness virtually, too. Lovely small groups and much-needed support and connection for all. From facilitating in-person EFT Group Mentoring, I also managed to organise the sessions online and met with practitioners from around the globe that I would never have encountered in our Harrogate gatherings! Such an unexpected gift.
Community is essential and remains possible. Sharing is still doable. Kindness is essential. Be kind to yourselves first. Fill your own cup. Look after yourselves to look out for each other. Give yourself permission to feel and acknowledge what is calling for your attention. These are not normal times.
But we will get through this and I look forward so much to seeing you on the other side.
In the meantime, I always love hearing from you. You can contact me here.
I wish you peace, comfort, warmth, friendship, health, and joy... and a much, much brighter 2021.
