About Me - My Training and Work
Born in France, it is my love of the English language that first brought me to this country over 40 years ago. At first, I stayed with a warm and welcoming family as an "au pair" and returned as a foreign language assistante. After gaining a Masters Degree in France, I eventually qualified as a Modern Languages teacher at the University of Leeds in 1983 (PGCE). I taught French for 17 years in secondary education. For most of this time, I held the post of Head of Modern Languages.
During that time, I met my husband and established deeper roots here. We raised two beautiful daughters together, now independent and mature women.
School teaching changed and began to lose some of its lustre for me. This baffled me at first, as I was truly in my dream job. Whilst addressing the rising stresses and pressure and seeking to re-establish meaningful life-balance, I explored more deeply what brings me joy and fulfillment. I started on a new journey of soul searching, that included deep personal work as well as professional development. I realised we all have the potential to live authentic and rewarding lives. Eventually I left school teaching to dedicate myself full-time to creating a successful Training, Mentoring and Therapy practice, helping people make meaningful changes.
The professional qualifications I gathered along the way, in no particular order, include Reiki Master/Teacher, Reiki Drum Technique Master/Teacher, Diploma in Life Coaching, NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), Group Facilitation, Stress Management. The emerging field of Energy Psychology: EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) strongly attracted me for the powerful tools and techniques it offers and I became a Practitioner, Trainer and Mentor with EFT International. As a member of the Accreditation Panel at EFTi, I am involved in raising professional standards of training and integration of EFT into mainstream healthcare.
My journey led me to realise that I needed to continue exploring my connection to and relationship with the wonder and energy of life, the Mystery, the transpersonal. And so I understook the Open Mystery School programme Dr William Bloom was leading. I became one of the early Spiritual Companion Educators (www.spiritualcompanions.org) accredited by the College of Teachers. I love teaching the Secrets of Spiritual Health and Happiness short programme. It is the gateway to the Diploma in Practical Spirituality and Wellness, an accredited professional qualification integrating spirituality and healthcare, which I have been honoured to co-create and pioneer with a team of wonderful colleagues guided by William's vision. I am also a meditation teacher.
If I am not particpating in a course, I am reading books and engaged in conversations with fellow teachers, meditators, friends and students. I love walking in nature, gardening and just sitting. Or meditating. Or sharing cups of tea...
Many of my courses lead to professional certification. I also have designed and facilitate short courses and retreats to support personal development and create safe space for reflection. I offer on-going support and mentoring to students, practitioners and trainers as appropriate.
